The COST Action EUPopLink announces a call for applications for up to seven Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs). STSMs support short research visits, fostering new collaborations, inspiring research among EUPopLink COST partners.
Duration and location:
The STSM will take place at London Metropolitan University, covering the period of April 7–11, 2025 (inclusive).
Content and Focus:
This STSM aims to identify and engage relevant stakeholders to enhance dissemination efforts. A key focus will be developing strategies for effectively locating and involving these stakeholders. The STSM will also create a structured approach for maximizing dissemination impact. To identify relevant stakeholders within the scientific community, the STSM will leverage existing literature and concept mapping to gain insights into expanding the EUPopLink network. Finally, the STSM will develop dissemination strategies and activities to facilitate this network expansion. The STSM outputs will contribute to deliverables D4.1 and D4.2.
Financial Support:
Successful applicants may receive up to a maximum of €2000.
Obligations:
Collaborative Document Drafting:
- Work with the WG4 Leader, Action Chair, and fellow grantees to develop a comprehensive and collaborative document.
- Incorporate bibliographic resources collected individually and during the STSM.
- The distribution of work will be determined during the STSM in co-operation with the WG4 Leader and the Action Chair.
Active Participation:
- Maintain full-time presence at London Metropolitan University throughout the STSM.
- Contribute to document development through discussions and insights with the WG4 Leader and Action Chair, who will assign research tasks.
- Collaboratively refine and finalize the bibliography and related content.
Stakeholder Mapping & Dissemination Strategies:
- Identify and develop strategies for effective stakeholder engagement for deliverable D.4.1.
- Dissemination strategies and activities related to deliverable D.4.2.
Teamwork & Knowledge Exchange:
- Collaborate efficiently with other participants to ensure the mission’s success.
- Share expertise, methodologies, and best practices in the field.
Reporting and claim for payment of the grant:
Upon the conclusion of the STSM, within 30 days after the end of the activity, the grantees have to submit via e-COST system:
- The claim for the payment of the grant is made via the e-COST system.
- Report to the Action MC on the main achievements of the STSM and planned future follow up activities.
Eligibility:
A short-term scientific mission consists of a visit to a host organization located in a country different from the country of affiliation by a researcher or innovator for the specific work to be carried out and for a determined period of time.
Both Young Researchers and Innovators (YRI) and senior researchers are eligible to apply. STSM applicants must be engaged in an official research programme as a PhD Student or postdoctoral fellow or can be employed by, or affiliated to, an institution, organisation or legal entity which has within its remit a clear association with performing research.
Applicants must have a research profile that fits the main aim of EUPopLink, studying Euroscepticism and/or Populism.
Priorities:
Special priority will be given to “Young Researchers and Innovators” (YRI) and Researchers from Inclusiveness Target Country. Gender balance will be taken into consideration.
Evaluation criteria:
Work-plan summary: 50%
Young Researchers and Innovators (YRI): 30%
Researchers from Inclusiveness Target Countries: 20%

G) Applicants must demonstrate a research profile that aligns with the main aim of EUPopLink, focusing on Euroscepticism and/or Populism. If this is not evident through a membership in EUPopLink Working Group(s) (WG), they must submit their CV to verify the relevance of their research to EUPopLink.
H) Work-plan summary (limited to 1000 words), including:
- A short description of bibliographic resources that will facilitate the list of stakeholders from the scientific community. - Describe the steps you will take to identify stakeholders outside of the scientific community.

Clarifications:
The COST Association and the Grant Holder of the Action cannot be considered as being an STSM grantee’s employer. STSM grantees must make their own arrangements for all provisions related to personal security, health, taxation, social security and pension matters.
